MSO of Puerto Rico was also recognized by its Office Advantage Leadership Academy as one of 10 “Case Studies in Excellence” of 2023

San Juan, Puerto Rico, November 14, 2023 – MSO of Puerto Rico, a subsidiary of MMM Puerto Rico, was recognized in the Elite category as part of the 2023 Standards of Excellence program of the America’s Physician Group (APG). The SOE® program is an annual survey, administered by APG, that evaluates its members within 5 rigorous categories: population health management, health information technology, accountability and transparency, patient-centered care, and advanced primary care.

In addition, MSO of Puerto Rico’s Office Advantage Leadership Academy was included as one of the 10 Case Studies of Excellence 2023. APG annually recognizes its members’ top 10 case studies of excellence, evaluated in four areas: Team Care, Patient Engagement and Activation, Advanced Primary Care, and Specialty Care Integration.

The MSO Case Study of Excellence focuses on the successful Office Advantage Leadership Academy, a program to help primary medical office staff adopt clinical, quality, and management best practices and, as a result, improve patient care.

“To be recognized for our management that benefits the medical practice and the patient, as well as the Office Advantage Leadership Academy, fills us with pride. At MSO of Puerto Rico, this program has meant improved quality outcomes for the primary care physician and first-class coordinated care and attention for the MMM members. The Academy has contributed significantly to the professional development of the administrative staff of the medical office, providing them with tools that facilitate their work, but above all pride in what they do. This drives us to continue innovating with programs that improve the practice of medicine on the island and the health of Puerto Ricans,” said Dr. Raúl Montalvo, president of MSO of Puerto Rico.

MSO created the Office Advantage Leadership Academy in 2020. In collaboration with a local university and MSO clinical leadership, the Academy offers a robust curriculum that develops the knowledge and skills needed for medical office staff with a values-based education of care.

The courses are aimed at the patient experience, better coordination of care, continuity and coordination of health services, maximization of resources and improvement of key performance indicators. The Office Advantage Leadership Academy has been able to improve the results of medical offices, improving patient care thanks to a commitment to health by the entire work team of each medical practice.

APG’s Excellence Case Studies are an important resource for connecting policymakers, buyers and payers, other healthcare organizations, partners, and patients to APG’s member organizations’ values of responsible, patient-centered, highly coordinated, and quality care.

America’s Physician Group is a national association representing approximately 360 medical groups, with nearly 170,000 physicians, who provide care to nearly 90 million patients.
